I use science-backed, positive reinforcement methods to guide dogs in navigating our world without fear, pain or intimidation. My approach emphasizes teaching dogs 'yes' before telling them 'no,' while also establishing clear expectations for both dogs and their owners. I work directly with the dog and educate and coach owners to reinforce and maintain the training techniques at home.

Meet Lesley

Hi, I’m Lesley, a force free, positive reinforcement trainer in the East Bay. I came to dog training later in life after spending 10 years as a puppy raiser with Guide Dogs for the Blind. It took me way too long to realize that my ideal work life feels like play to me, but accomplishes something useful and valuable for others.

In 2014 I started volunteering with Guide Dogs for the Blind as a puppy raiser, and am now raising my 9th GDB puppy. I’ve also been the Club Leader of the Guide Dogs for the Blind - Berkeley Puppy Raisers Club since 2019. As a Club Leader I help shape the culture of the puppy club, oversee puppy raisers and their puppies, and manage the day-to-day responsibilities of raising puppies. Through this work I love teaching raisers constructive, effective and positive approaches to working with dogs.

I am a proud graduate of The Academy for Dog Trainers, a prestigious program that awards a Certificate in Training and Counseling in the field of dog training. With a focus on positive reinforcement techniques and science backed animal learning theory, I am equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to work effectively with dogs of all breeds and temperaments. By emphasizing positive reinforcement, I help build strong relationships based on trust between human and canine clients.
